Explore the flourishing, verdant Mangrove Primeval Forest, on the subtropical isle of Amami. Take a kayak tour with a knowledgeable guide through the waterways of this region, where ocean and river water mix, and trees develop strange seeds, dispatched to float along the liquid avenues. Your guide will point out various interesting species of animal and plant life, including the ryukyu ruddy kingfisher, a summer resident here. Be sure to bring plenty of water and a sun hat, plus a pair of binoculars to increase your chances of spotting animals. Put Mangrove Primeval Forest on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Amami road trip planning app.
