Venzone is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.GeographyIt is located in the historic Friuli region, about 90km northwest of Trieste and about 30km north of Udine. The municipal area is situated in the valley of the Tagliamento River, separating the Julian Alps in the east from the Carnic Prealps in the west. After the Kingdom of the Lombards was conquered by Charlemagne in 774, a first fortified settlement was laid out under Carolingian rule.
