Trevi nel Lazio

4.1
Trevi nel Lazio is a town, comune (municipality), former bishopric and former Latin Catholic titular see of the province of Frosinone in the Italian region of Lazio in the upper valley of the Aniene river. It is 17km by road northeast of Fiuggi and 23km by road southeast of Subiaco, the nearest larger towns.HistoryThe town first makes its appearance as Treba, a place of the Aequi, and later was called Treba Augusta to help distinguish it from Trebiae (Trevi in Umbria). The town was a bishopric from 499 to 1060; in the 15th century, it was sacked by Alfonso V of Aragon. In August 2011 the Italian government had made plans to merge the village with neighbouring Filettino, in order to cut administrative costs, but they were interrupted by the protestations of the mayor of the village, Luca Sellari, who announced his village would become its own independent principality, in order to preserve its identity. Trevi nel Lazio is in Province of Frosinone. Take stress off the schedule by using our Italy online vacation builder.
