Ortigia is the historic city center of Syracuse on the island of Sicily. Connected to the main island by a series of three bridges, this small island features the majority of Syracuse's cultural and artistic heritage, spanning more than 2,500 years of history. Meander through the narrow alleyways admiring the mix of medieval architecture and Roman ruins. You'll see the ancient Temple of Apollo and the city's main cathedral, which was built using remains from the Temple of Athena. Try to stop by island's outdoor market, where you can buy local goods and handmade products. • How beautiful the city is, located on an island. Most pedestrian, comfortable and pleasant for the traveler. How nice the square in front of the cathedral!

  • The Island is small and one day you can know it perfectly without a rush revealing every corner. In it came the city of Syracuse and by geography it explains its power from a commercial point of view. There are traces that the Phoenicians passed through her before the Greeks. It concentrates several palaces of the Baroque era.
