Serrai di Sottoguda, Rocca Pietore

#2 of 9 in Things to do in Rocca Pietore
Landmark · Tourist Spot
Board the little train to Serrai di Sottoguda canyon and enjoy a guided tour through this picturesque gorge. Running for 2 km (1.25 mi) and formed by an earthquake and water erosion, the canyon offers year-round hiking and nature activities. In winter, when frozen waterfalls hang from rock walls, the canyon takes on a different kind of magic--ice-climbers often come here to tackle the steep walls. If you're not in the mood for a long hike, you can take the Serrai's tourist train from Sottoguda to Malga Ciapela, a small church within the gorge. Make Serrai di Sottoguda a part of your Rocca Pietore vacation plans using our Rocca Pietore travel route planner.

  • Sadly it was closed for an unspecified period due to damage caused by floodings in late 2018. Not sure if it has been fully restored by now. The surrounding area was quite beautiful though.  more »

  • Stars are difficult, because, Regrettably, this marvelous walk through the Serrai has had be closed as a result of the catastrophic damage caused by the storm last October. All efforts are being taken to repair the surrounding area, and there are various fundings starting both locally and from further afield to repair the Serrai to it's formar magical splendour.
