#2 of 208 in Things to do in Pisa
Visit Tuscany's focal point of medieval architecture and fine art at Piazza dei Miracoli. Four historical buildings anchor this designated sacred area: the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistery, the monumental cemetery, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Wander the manicured green lawns of the plaza, taking in the view of the towering, white stone buildings and their ornate facades. Admire the beautiful marble arches and coffered ceiling of the cathedral with five naves. For more information on the site's history and cultural legacy, visit the plaza's Sinopias Museum or the Cathedral Museum. • The bright Mediterranean light illuminated the "CAMPO OF MIRACOLI", truly a blazing miracle of the Romanesque Pisa, I was to enjoy the show (I had not gone to Pisa since the 70s ...) and I "stole" it with my eyes. The memory - once in a while - was not superior to the revised reality.

  • Piazza dei Miracoli is a very atmospheric place, it is nice to be here at any time of the day, but especially well in the early morning and evening when the main flow of tourists has subsided. The area is unusual and incredibly beautiful, in the evenings there is an atmosphere of comfort and benevolence: someone plays football on a soft, green lawn, someone just lies on the grass, resting after a walk on the wall and enjoying the surrounding beauty. I recommend visiting this place, but not with a group of bus tourists, and stop in Pisa for a day to have time to admire the sunset against the backdrop of the Pisa tower. And the city itself is worthy to walk through the labyrinths of its streets, I note that the cuisine here is just great.

  • First trip to Pisa. How lovely. Some amazing photo attempts of holding up the tower! Nice meander and very good pizza....tuna, pineapple, sweet corn and red onion! Nice glass of rose. Very friendly staff who spoke excellent English.
  • If you are in Florence or somewhere in the area it is worth taking an hour local train ride to visit this place. The plaza contains the Cathedral Archdiocese of Pisa which of course the world renown leaning tower of Pisa is a part of. The place is full of tourists but you can still enjoy yourself by visiting the Duomo and/or the tower. Be sure to check the schedule and get on the list as the line to climb the tower may be very long.
