  • A beautiful church, very large complex, dances its facade, rich its interior chapels, good works, by masters of various eras, pity not so much to hand its placement....

  • Like many churches that on the outside seem insignificant, especially those like this one that have an unfinished facade, they have amazing interiors, with countless works of art. Ancient origins for this church, an oratory is already described by Paul Diacon in 653, as many as thirteen centuries of history. A monastery is added to the Oratory and in 971 Queen Adelaide helps the Benedictine monks to build a large church. Over the centuries it is abandoned and then rebuilt several times, in 1795 it even becomes a military hospital. It was not until 1901 that it was reopened to worship. The great cloister of monks is now a parish oratory. The facade as said is unfinished, interior instead very rich in baroque and rococo decorations, has a unique aisle with six chapels on each side, two side altars and one central. Very nice decorations of the vaults in the aisle and dome. Next to the presbytery there are two deep chapels completely frescoed. All chapels are inaccessible, protected by gates. From outside the bars you can still admire many frescoes and altarpieces of considerable value.

  • Interestingly
  • Romanesque three-aisle church located on the western outskirts of the city point of passage and refreshment for pilgrims who walked the old Via Francigena the outside is scabro us and is not plastered. The interior has numerous frescoes very well preserved next door but not visitable you can see a cloister that belonged to the convent adjacent to the church
