The Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele is an opera house and opera company located on the Piazza Verdi in Palermo, Sicily. It was dedicated to King Victor Emanuel II.

It is the biggest in Italy, and one of the largest of Europe (at the time of its inauguration, it was - with its area of 7730 sqm. - the third largest opera house in Europe after the Palais Garnier in Paris, and the K. K. Hof-Opernhaus in Vienna), renowned for its perfect acoustics.

  • This is an impressive pile. However it was still a surprise to learn that it’s the largest opera house in Italy, outstripping Milan’s La Scala or Venice’s La Fenice. It's the 3rd largest in the world....  more »

  • Stunning venue. Went to an evening show and it was an incredible experience. The acoustics are phenomenal and the decor is beautiful
  • The biggest opera house in Italy and the third biggest in Europe should have a better conservation. The place is very beautiful and the ceiling has marvelous paintings. However the conservation is not good, what is a pity for the importance of the place. In addition there are no presentations on summer due to the heat inside. I recommend the guided tour for EUR 8,00.
