Discover one of the finest examples of Italian-Gothic architecture at Duomo di Orvieto. In the hilltop town of Orvieto, the 13th-century cathedral features a dominating front facade of golden mosaics, three bronze doors, and a large rose window. Tour the interior to admire two frescoed chapels that are said to have influenced Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel. • We had a stop in orvieto to watch this magnificent duomo, on our way to France. Unfortunately it was closed. Orvieto deserves more time to be watched, we will come back  more »
  • The beauty of the art inside this cathedral is truly amazing, in a wonderful Etruscan hill town. This is definitely worth the time spent.  more »

  • This is a wonderful place to visit on your Italy trip.It makes for a relatively restful day in a smaller town which dates back to Etruscan times. The cathedral itself is beautiful and impressive and sets the atmosphere for the rest of this quaint Village on a Hilltop. My 26 year old son enjoyed this town more than Rome, Florence, and Venice. The train stops here on its way from Rome to Florence so it is a convenient place to stop in to relax for a day. There are a lot of handcrafted pieces for sale in cute little shops and delicious food is available. Highly recommended.!!
  • Orvieto is situated at hillside. Wonderful town with a brilliant cathedral from medieval ages. It is really colorful. It stands on a square in the heart of old town. Beautiful exterior and breathtaking interior. Don't miss its chapel with extraordinary frescoes.
