    We discovered this archeological site by chance, as a road sign on our way called attention to it. The ruins of a late Roman villa sit under a farmhouse from the 1700s, it is a recent discovery...  more »

    Only a few minutes drive from Noto, this villa has some brilliant mosaics (not as grand as Villa Romana del Casale, but at least on par with Pompeii). Entrance was free (have never seen that before...  more »

    The mosaics are beautiful but the fact there are 7 member of staff there and not one of them offered to give us a tour or explain anything in detail was disappointing. Furthermore many of the signs have not been translated into English. The mosaics are faded and dusty and I was surprise to see the midday sun shining directly on them. The toilets were indicate by a sign which was misleading as it led to more remains, not only the toilets.
