It is a good museum and a good introduction to Pompeii because there are a lot of objects from the city as well as pieces of frescoes. We also had the chance to see a very interesting temporary exhibition of a sculptor we did not know. The museum is close to the city centre, easy to get to and on the practical side it has a concierge to lay luggage. Few queues and few people inside, it changes Roman museums! I recommend you especially if you are fans of history and Pompeii
This is unlike pretty much any museum I've ever been to, because of the many frescos and mosaics from ~2000 years ago or more, in amazing shape. Similarly for statues, though you can see good status from that age in other museums too. We'd just visited Herculaneum and Pompeii, and while that gave you a tiny taste of their art, this museum is where you really have to come to get the meal that comes after the taste.
Interesting rooms holding varied treasured antiques from local and national archaeological sites. It's big, bright, airy and modern - excellent way to spend an hour or two! Guides at the front provide tours in a variety of languages for a little extra per person (€10 approx.).
