Situated inside a former convent, Civic Archaeological Museum traces the history of ancient Milan. The complex, established in the 9th century, now features modern exhibits designed to provide a glimpse into the city's earliest days. The museum displays artifacts unearthed in Milan and the surrounding area, and is best known for containing ancient statues and rare examples of Roman glass. Follow the viewing route to access the three sections dedicated to Etruscan and Greek civilizations, as well as Lombardy in medieval times. • We accidentally discovered this historic corner in the center after visiting the Cenacle for the third time. For those who love our history it is undoubtedly interesting to discover visually and in detail represented by a plastic place in plain sight at the entrance as was Milan in Roman times. The buildings are indicated with references to the current roadway in order to make it easier to place them. The findings are an exceptional documentation on which everyone can make considerations based on their own culture. Fortunately, every now and then something emerges from the excavations and leads us to know unimaginable wonders.

  • Off the usual itineraries it is small but well looked after. It is developed on several floors but also accessible to disabled people. We were there with our 4-year-old son. One floor is dedicated to the Etruscans, one to the Greeks and one to the high medieval period. We entered for free being the first Sunday of the month. The little church next door also deserves a lot. Recommended.

  • A great civic museum, one of the best in Milan. Small enough to see in a day but there are a lot of artifacts presented in a professional way and with good, bilingual explanations.
  • Cheap museum with lots of little interesting pieces. Nothing mental but good for a hour or so walk about. Nice to see some of the original roman structures in Milan
