Hidden just steps away from the massive crowds flocking to the Duomo, Chiesa di San Bernardino alle Ossa boasts an impressive bone chapel. The side chapel, adjacent to the church, was built in 1210 to house the bones of individuals when the next-door cemetery ran out of space. The main church was added later, in 1269, and a larger church was erected from its remains after a devastating fire in the 18th century. Now, curious visitors can explore this church and its famous ossuary chapel, much of which is decorated in the Rococo style. Chiesa di San Bernardino alle Ossa reviews

This place was on our list of alternative places we wanted to see and we loved it. Very macabre and sobering experience. more »

Church is ptetty so do take some time to have a look at that before going into the Ossarie. The bone room is full of arranged bones. What is there to say and is exactly as the reviews. more »

A special one-off church which is both very pretty and spooky at the same time. The main Chapel area is very pretty and if you turn right from the entrance you will enter the bones part of the church. This is very special, no entry fee but a donation box. Only issue is the area around the church has quite a lot of homeless around it who are quite persistent.

This place is one of those hidden gems you can find in Milano if you're one of those explorers. The uniqueness is the decorations of real human bones on the walls, there's an eery feeling to it when you enter. It's also a place that's not difficult to find, next to it there's a beautiful church you can also visit (no bones included)
