  • Via Garibaldi or Strada Nuova is a small street dominated by numerous Palazzi Rolli, some of which are notable museums. Its facades feature a succession of carved and painted ornaments, frescoes, large arcades and loggias, balconies, patios and entrances crowned by coats of arms of noble families. Unesco World Heritage Site Via Garibaldi, or "Strada Nuova" from the mid-16th century, is also called "Via Aurea" by the splendor of its buildings, once genoa's richest and most powerful families (Cambioso palaces and Carrega-Cataldi). It is also the site of the museum itinerary dedicated to ancient art that connects three historic villas owned by the municipality: Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Doria Tursi. It is these three museums that make up the Musei di Strada Nuova.
