This Art Retreat is perfect for those wishing to relax whilst learning to paint with watercolours or oils. The tutor is a very experienced painter who has trained in Florence. I found him supportive and his demonstrations were thorough. He was also quite a character himself and we had a lot of fun and the banter was always most pleasant! His critiques at the end of the day were well given and supportive perfectly timed at the end of the day with an aperitivi. He always spotted the positive and found a weakness that he would give a strategy to overcome. This is what I expect! I have been on many art Retreats, as I am keen watercolourist and this place is a good balance of perfect setting and thorough tuition. I can honestly say that I have learnt something new everyday here. I would recommend it to anyone travelling to retreats for the forst time as it is a perfect example of what it should be like! The others in the group were from all around the globe. They made me feel very welcome and we had a lot of fun painting together in the magnificent hill-towns of Le Marche! Not to be missed! Ps The food is exceptional and the chef.. Jana is a culinary magician! What are you waiting for?
This painting holiday experience was nothing like that portrayed on The Retreat web site. The accommodation in a 2 star "renovated" farmhouse was so far removed from luxury it was ridiculous.the squeaky bed came complete with hard mattress, the linen was old and washed out and the shower had no soap holder and little water spray that went cold while you were showering if someone used the water elsewhere. For this I was charged sole use rate when sharing with non painting partner... So much for non painter discount. Beware this is highly deceptive web site even to the fact that the teacher showed no evidence of a style that is close to the bright painting displayed on the site and which attracted me to spending £2,100 for 7 nights it is totally overpriced and second rate.
