Castello di Donnafugata, Donnafugata

Wonderful history and nostalgia. You can easily spend a few hours around the castle and grounds. There's not much else in the area to see or do, but we were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant near the entrance. Food was plenty and plates were large. All we needed was a bench to sleep on afterwards!!! If you have half a day to kill with friends, family or just scouting the countryside, you would do good to have a visit.

An interesting insight into the history of Sicilian ruling classes. A number of rooms are available to the public showing how they lived, dressed and what their interests were. It is inexpensive to visit therefore worth the visit if you are in that part of the island. And for fans of Inspector Montalbano, scenes were shot for the meeting with the head of the mafia.
