  • Located just outside Bibbiena, in the Valley of the river Vessa, is reached from a detour that comes off to the right of the road that leads to the convent of La Verna. Stands on the site where our lady appeared, the ' stone ', which attracts devotion. In the Renaissance style, with beautiful works of della Robbia, a wooden statue of the Madonna of the dark and an original altar below the dome, has nice porch and courtyard with frescoes. Place for a break with the camper, is worth a visit not hasty

  • The sanctuary of Santa Maria del Sasso has this name because here on 6 June 1347 our lady appeared to a little girl having laid the feet over a large Boulder, Boulder now enclosed in the Church. The huge complex of the shrine is located near Bibbiena, Casentino: the whole complex was declared a national monument in 1899, and in 1947 the Pope granted the Church the title of minor Basilica. The sanctuary was built to a design by Giuliano da Maiano and contains within it many works of art, the most relevant of which is the fresco of the Madonna del Sasso, 1435 by Bicci di Lorenzo: remarkable is also the cloister, built in ' 500. The Dominican friars are the custodians of the shrine from 1468: in the 19th century were joined in the care of the great temple complex by the Dominican Sisters.
