Considered by locals to be the Grand Canyon of Sicily, Cavagrande del Cassibile is a nature reserve surrounding a large canyon. Perfect for nature-lovers, hikers, or those who enjoy extreme sports, this reserve offers something for everyone. Admire the scenery from the road, or venture onto one of the many paths to get closer to the wildlife, waterfalls, and flora of the park. During the summer, head down to the many freshwater pools that line the bottom of the canyon and cool down in the crisp water. If it's your first visit, we suggest the Scala Cruci pathway, an easier option that doesn't sacrifice great views. Make Cavagrande del Cassibile a centerpiece of your Avola vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Avola trip itinerary maker.

  • A place like few, heaven on earth. There are several routes to reach the waterway and ponds. We have faced the most difficult. But the reward in the end is great. The path is the B and then again B. The journey is very difficult, if you are not familiar with climbing or suffer from vertigo I strongly recommend it. The passage is very narrow, mostly free of protective barriers, in some places you will have to descend rock walls and continuous climbs and descends quite steep. Earth on the rock and rocks on the path make the terrain and walking even more unstable. Consider that the only way back is the one you have traveled on the way, there are no alternatives, so think about it before entering this way. It took us about an hour for the full route. I invite anyone who will go to this wonderful place in the future to respect the place and not to leave any kind of rejection and to collect any if he finds it around, as I happen to do. W Sicily priceless land.
