St. Joseph Church, Nazareth

#5 of 24 in Things to do in Nazareth
Religious Site · Tourist Spot
Thought by many to occupy the site of the carpentry workshop of the husband to Virgin Mary, St. Joseph Church represents a modest example of Romanesque Revival style architecture. Built in 1914, the church covers an underground network of caves and early Crusader church remains. Enter the simple public threshold of the Franciscan Roman Catholic church, and descend the short staircase to the crypt for a glimpse at a small section of the underground system of rock-cut chapel and caves. Notice the recurrence of the figure of Joseph across the church's numerous stained glass windows.
