Museum on the Seam is a socio-political contemporary art museum located in Jerusalem, which was selected by the New York Times as "one of the 29 most impressive art institutions in the world". The Museum exhibits the finest art from Israel and abroad by leading contemporary artists while presenting art as a language with no boundaries in order to raise social issues for public discussion, while emphasizing what connects us rather than what keeps us apart.See Museum on the Seam and all Jerusalem has to offer by arranging your trip with our Jerusalem vacation maker .
Past exhibitions at the Museum, which was described by the National Geographic as "a fascinating and unique museum", have dealt with themes of human rights, exploration of anxiety, animal rights, ecology and sustainability, and the contemporary phenomenon of loneliness, among others.
Washington University's website stated: "This is one of the best museums in the world. The most intense active square meter to art ratio you will ever find." Located only five minutes' walk from the Old City and a minute walk from Mea Shearim, the Museum's rooftop holds one of Jerusalem's most magnificent views, a coffee shop (with free Wi-Fi), and is a home to various activities including gallery talks, lectures, performance art and many more.
Museum on the Seam Reviews
We went to the Museum on the Seam, at the join of Palestinian Arab East Jerusalem and Jewish West Jerusalem. And indeed we got there on the bus from West Jerusalem via Ultra-religious Jewish neighbour... more »
מקום מעניין מאד ושווה ביקור ש... more »A small museum, in the military position of the former Mandelbaum crossing, is right on the spot where the Six Day War limit was passed. A variety of temporary exhibitions dealing with the huge range of evidence and types in Jerusalem. A very interesting place and worth a visit for at least an hour. It is advisable to take a guided tour of the site.
A tiny museum in the building that was on the border between Israel & Jordan before the Six Day War, 1967. Then it was used as an outpost with small shooting windows still visible and beautiful rooftop views of Mt. SCOPUS and the city and a cute little coffee shop with books to browse while you drink. The museum itself has changing exhibits of art dealing with the subject of borders, war & peace, contacts between people, etc. A nice stop on the light rail line.
Pricey, like $12, for a few floors and a few rooms but a very historical building with a few pieces of very stimulating art. There's a great viewing area up the spiral staircase above the roof. I'm not sure how the cafe is on the roof, but I imagine it doesn't get too crowded.
