Wade knee-deep through water in a pitch black tunnel at Hezekiah's Tunnel - Siloam Tunnel, an ancient feat of engineering that protected the city's water supply from the invading Assyrian army in the late 8th century BCE. Built under King Hezekiah, the tunnels were carved with a pickaxes from either side until the tunnel diggers met in the middle. They can be explored by guided tour, but bring a light source, wear bottoms that you can roll up above your knees, and carry a backpack in which to place your shoes before wading in. • Great experience! I genuinely enjoyed the descent below the ground. Both paths (dry and wet) are well maintained, though I ultimately decided to only follow the yellow path, as the blue one really does require the visitor to be better equipped with water-resistant boots and a flashlight. Still, even the yellow path is interesting, it boggles one’s mind that these tunnels were created thousands of years ago virtually by hand.
  • This is one of the oldest places in Jerusalem and that's saying something. Amazing to think how they possibly could have created this coming from opposite ends and yet meeting to complete it. You should not miss this tour!
