Armenian Quarter, Jerusalem

4.4
#5 of 10 in Neighborhoods in Jerusalem
Stroll through cobblestone alleys of Armenian Quarter, passing some of the oldest chapels in the city. Thought by some to be the site of the Biblical Mount Zion, the peaceful, intriguing neighborhood features a gate and a street of the same name. See the chapel where, according to legend, St. Peter took refuge after the prison break, and the cathedral where St. James the Great lost his head upon orders of the historical King Herod. Visit the cemetery near the convent and the museum to learn more about the Armenian genocide. • It is a quarter of the ancient city. located in the southwest corner of the ancient city. To get here, wear the security and the law. Think this is the smallest of the four sections. But the most interesting: The City of Menia was the first country to accept Christianity as the official religion, and the People of Ameni a man played an important role in Jerusalem since Christianity was born. This is the most peaceful corner of the ancient city. Again, I strolled through the narrow alleys, the church.
