Country Markets was founded by the Irish Country Woman's Association and the Irish Homespun Society. The Country Markets exist as an independent Co-operative society with strict rules on production, quality and presentation of the goods. It gives small producers an opportunity to run their own business and sell high quality goods

Ireland has more than 65 branches and Ramelton was voted the most improved market last year.

The Ramelton branch was opened on Friday 15th July 1977. It was originally held in the Robertson School and moved to the Town Hall on 4th November 1977. It has been held here ever since, except when the recent renovations took place from mid 2004 until June 2005.

Over the years we have seen a lot of changes to the Country Market but the basic principles remain the same. Good local produce, original and quality

  • Small market, a few stalls. Vegetables were fresh and mostly locally grown . Good to support the trafers.  more »
