St. Mary's Cathedral, Killarney

4.7
Architectural Building · Hidden Gem · Religious Site
Admire the combination of architectural influences at St. Mary's Cathedral. This Gothic cathedral is partly designed after Ireland's medieval churches. The brown-and-gray stonework and three stained-glass lancet windows represent traditional Irish features added by local architects. Visit the church between services to inspect the fine work inside. Consider observing a service to fully appreciate the somber beauty of the chapel. • I like to visit the Cathedral once of twice a month. I like heading in there after a walk in the park or when I am walking out from town. Its huge space is kind of special... Don't pass by if you...  more »
  • St Mary's Cathedral is a beautiful building and a tribute to those who built it during Ireland's most difficult famine period. A very calming and spiritual visit. I reallt enjoyed my brief stop.  more »

  • We stumbled upon this place in Killarney without even trying. It was immaculate. It was so peaceful and so beautiful on the inside and they have an area for you to take bottled holy water. I loved it ..what I needed and I didn't even know it.
  • Beautiful building from outside and inside. Inside the walls were made from rocks, same as outside. Huge open area inside, not easy to get good acoustic. Would prefer to be given text or displyed on the projector screens.
