Trip Planner: Europe / Ireland / Province of Munster / County Kerry / Killarney / Killarney National Park
Discover Ireland's true colors at Killarney National Park, prized by nature lovers for its lakes, mountain peaks, and oak and yew woodlands. This national park, the first established in Ireland, shelters the country's only native herd of red deer. Protected as a biosphere reserve of international importance, the park encompasses over 10,000 hectares (25,000 acres) with vast sections available for hiking, cycling, boating, and fishing. The park also contains one of the country's foremost stately homes and gardens, noted for its collection of original furnishings and fully restored Victorian glasshouses. Ask your guide to take you on a horse-drawn ride through the park, or take a boat trip on the three interconnected lakes. Many animals meet numerous deer, grazing cows and various birds. The trails are all well indicated, all easily accessible even if you are not particularly trained both on foot and by bike. Convenient service of the buggy pulled by the Horse for those who are tired or simply want to enjoy the ride.
The Ring of Kerry and everything in this area is amazing. You will want to spend several days in this area! So much to explore and enjoy! The horse drawn carriage ride takes you by some wonderful sites and to the falls so you'll defiantly want to take advantage of it.
What a great time, we walked through the beautiful trails and experienced Ireland's nature while surrounded by rain. There were horse drawn carriages and a cute little cafe. A great playground for kids and great hiking/walking trails for everyone to enjoy. Parking can be a little rough, so be patient. Enjoys nature's glory, and check out this park
