  • John Byrne's Work responds to a public commission for the "Court of the Latin Quarter in Dublin. He was chosen for his satirical spirit. He was able to make feel the nuances of Mick Wallace's personality: his passion for politics, philosophy, Italy, wine, and football. A Juventus shirt and logo were then added. For the decorations the specialists will find St Luke, and the church of the Coomb. For the 13 Apostles Byrne chose an ordinary sample of the population of Dublin. The banquet table features a teapot, Irish soda and bitter herbs. The Pitch of the work, I quote, "Reflecting a changing society and growing cultural mixing in Dublin, Byrne perceives the work of art as an expression of "positive politics and its ordinary people" For him, the artwork suggests that neither the institution, nor religion (in this case Christianity) have a monopoly on the heart.
