O'Connell Bridge, Dublin

Walk across a piece of beloved history at O'Connell Bridge, a bridge spanning the River Liffey. Designed by James Gandon and built between 1791 and 1794, the structure connects O'Connell Street to D'Olier Street, Westmoreland Street, and the south quays. As a result, business and commercial life moved to surround this bridge, and masses of people used this bridge every day. It gradually was built up to accommodate the usage; today, seen from above, it is as wide as it is long. Be careful when you visit, as pickpockets tend to frequent the area.
