National Leprechaun Museum, Dublin

#15 of 68 in Museums in Dublin
A place of magic and mystery, National Leprechaun Museum narrates the story of the mischievous elf from Irish folklore. Once described as the "Louvre of leprechauns," the museum explains the basics of Irish mythology and presents the history of the little man with magical powers by showcasing his appearances in various forms of popular culture. Walt Disney went on a leprechaun hunt in 1948, and if you suspend your judgment during your visit, so can you. Enter the world of leprechauns by exploring a room furnished with furniture so large you may begin to suspect you have become smaller in size. Other rooms contain rainbows, pots of gold, deep wishing wells, and giant tree trunks. • Awesome staff! A great tour that can be enjoyed by adults, kids and everyone inbetween. The set up is very nice and mystical, the storyteller (11.9., 3pm Tour) was very nice and absolutely brilliant and her job! The gift shop with loads of books on folklore is very nice and had everything you could want, including excellent advise on what to read from the staff! Thank you for a awesome time!
  • We were a little disappointed by this museum. It's great for children, but as adults we were mostly interested in the folktales and myths. There wasn't many. The guide was very engaging and really loved and breathed the stories he told. If you have kids this is definitely worth a visit but don't expect very many stories.
