Trip Planner: Europe / Ireland / Province of Leinster / County Wexford / Ardcavan / Wexford Wildfowl Reserve
A paradise for bird-watchers, Wexford Wildfowl Reserve provides a home to more than 250 species of birds, many of them winter migrants from Greenland, Scandinavia, Arctic Canada, and Russia. Located on a flat slobland reclaimed from the sea over a century ago, the reserve was originally established for the preservation of wild geese from Greenland, its most famous resident. Take a guided tour of the three hides to learn more about the wildlife, or bring binoculars and climb the 8 m (26 ft) tall observation tower. Make your Ardcavan itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.

At the end of October, thousands of geese, in particular from Greenland return to the reserve on the North Slob. The centre has a good and very interesting display and when we have gone up the tower..... more »
I wasn't really impressed with the reserve. Walked for more than an hour for a small swamp with geese. There's only limited space where you can wander around. If you're a bird watcher with gear it might be worth it, but for me it wasn't really worth coming out to.
Lovely quiet place with a good information centre with picnic tables and facilities. The hides were easily accessible Enjoyed the visit very much.
