Tumurun Private Museum – is a private museum located in the center of Surakarta, precisely at Kebangkitan Nasional street no. 2/4, Sriwedari, Laweyan district, Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. It is located about 700 meters eastward Keris Museum; 300 meters southward Slamet Riyadi street; 200 meters northward Pasar Kembang; and next to Sate Kambing Pak Manto. The museum does not have a signboard and if it is observed from the street, it looks like a mansion or factory. However, the artworks in the museum which both fence and wall are white painted are neatly arranged. Tumurun Museum has become a new tourist destination in Surakarta. This private museum is managed by the founder's family of Asia's largest textile company, Sri Rejeki Tekstil Inc. or well known as Sritex Inc. The various artworks on display are private collections of Lukminto’s family.

  • It's a private museum with a collection of modern and contemporary arts inside. We don't have to pay to enter the museum, and just have to book the visit date on their website. We'll get to appreciate the arts for about one hour. It's too bad that I booked my visit for Friday at 11 am. So, I only had 40-ish minutes due to the Friday prayer. There will be 1-2 guides that will accompany you through the tour, and you can ask them anything about the collections. It's actually a two storey museum, but the second floor isn't open for the public. I recommend you to visit this museum when you go to Solo. It's definitely worth your trip.
  • Two thumbs up! Must visit museum in Solo. Even though this is a private museum, it's free! All we need to do is make a reservation online. We were lucky when we're there, only 4 visitors including us, so it's really 'private'. Visitors only have one hour to be inside this museum.
