Lukshmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara

4.4
Admire the extravagant architecture of Lukshmi Vilas Palace and learn the history of the Maratha family that once ruled the state. Still the official residence of the Maharaja of Baroda, the palace dates back to 1890 and features an Indo-Saracenic style, combining both Indian and Muslim influences, as well as European Gothic features. The onsite museum contains works from the family's private art collection, while several of the main rooms open to the public each day, displaying rich interiors replete with mosaic floors, Belgian stained glass windows, and impressive chandeliers. • We visited only the palace and not the museum. No charges for parking. Ticket charges for adult to enter the palace is rs 225.audio guide will be provided free of cost with languages English, hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and french. Palace looks great from outside which is of no doubt. but with rupees 225 ticket you are allowed into the palace to see two halls and two rooms and not more than that. you are not allowed to enter the first or the other close other than ground floor. It will be great only for those who never ever visited any other palaces. those who have seen other places you can visit the palace from outside from garden view and you can skip entering the palace and paying the entry ticket. I also uploaded the ticket details in the image gallery. Only there is one room which contains various types of swords, guns and other related equipments used by our ancestors for war and other purposes. I loved it watching. The given rating is only for the ticket cost and not allowing to explore for the rooms in the palace. Cards are allowed for payments. I visited this palace in Jan 2019. Photography inside is RESTRICTED. Like, if this review is useful.
  • One of the largest private palace house right now in India. Most of the part is with the kings family. Even the palace u visit is maintained by kings family it seems. Entrance fee is 225 per person and that too for only palace. For Museum visit u have to pay extra. But audio guide will be given to u. Its very informative. U will enjoy it
