Must see · Religious Site · Tourist Spot
Hidden amid picturesque rivers, mountains, and forests lies Kukke Shree Subramanya Temple, an opulent holy site dedicated to the lord of all serpents. Pilgrims have to cross the nearby Kumaradhara River in order to cleanse themselves and receive permission to view the temple's divine idol and perform rituals. See the Garuda pillar between the entrance and the sanctorum--a birdlike figure that glows in silvery white and grants protection to devotees circumambulating it. Once you pass both the inner and outer hall, you'll reach the sanctorum of Sri Subrahmanya, where devotees offer ritual worship. Reach the easily accessible temple via train, bus, or taxi. • Powerful god. Temple process is very well organized and supporting staff. Plan to visit by 11am to perform primary season as many closed by 12 pm.. Ticket counter and shoe keeping counter are in entrance first. Free temple Prasad(food). So many souvenirs shop on the primary way with restaurants. A battery car serving free to the elders and disabled devotees. Public toilets are there too. Lovely temple surrounded by scenic mountains. The architecture of the temple is unique and the deity has a pulling aura. Not a money minded administration. They keep the temple clean and bright. Ample space is available inside the temple to accommodate huge crowd. Parking space is also ample. Toilets are available just outside the temple.
  • The highest revenue generator amongst all temples in Karnataka for the government. Though government gets topmost contribution, the temple is highly neglected. There is no proper place for a good stay. Parking is a big hell. There are many private lodges which offer limited car parking facility, but approach roads are very narrow.
