Religious Site · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Sited opposite the confluence of three rivers, Kamnath Mahadev Temple is a pilgrimage site best known for its holy pond, which is believed to have healing powers. According to legend, King Raja Mayurdhwaj built the temple complex in early 19th century after curing himself from leprosy by accidentally taking a bath in the pond. In addition to the holy pond, the complex features a well, an octagonal bathing pool of a rare kind, and a long, narrow cave with 12 representations of Shiva. At the end of the month of Shravan, believers come from all over India to attend a religious fair at the temple, which lights up for the occasion. • Kamnath mahadev mandir is almost opposite Triveni Sangam at Somnath. It has the panch pandav gufa nearby and is said to be the place where Adi Shankara prayed. There is a gufa for him too.  more »
  • This place has cave also adjacent to the Kamnath Temple & near Triveni Sangam Ghat. This temple may not be as famous as the Somnath but worth visiting.  more »
