Located about 8 kms northeast of Sitamarhi town is Panth Pakar, a popular historical attraction of mythological importance. It s a site where an age-old banyan tree still stands here which is said that when Sita got married to Lord Rama and left Janakpur in a palanquin for Ayodhya, she rested a while under this very banyan tree. Tourists visit this place in large numbers during festive times on Sri Ram Navami.
