Part of a series of columns erected during the 3rd century BCE, Ashoka Pillar is not only of historical and religious significance, but also of major artistic value. Still standing after all this time, most pillars are 12 m to 15 m (40 ft to 50 ft) high--19 feature inscriptions, and 6 animal capitals. This particular column is crowned with four lions.
