  • Be careful not to confuse: 2 temples in Osian -- one Jain with magnificent decorations (it is the Mahavira), the other, Hindu, at the top of a hill (the Sachiya) is especially interesting by life with the pererins This temple, on the road between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, absolutely worth a visit and it was a nice discovery. All red stone. It is a temple that lives with its priests at the bottom of the covered face so as not to absorb insects. He also spends all day pilgrims there. It's worth the show. But above all we admired the great temple as well as all the beautifully decorated and sculpted satellite temples. The ceiling of the main temple is breathtaking. We had as a guide one of the priests, who spoke perfect English. He explained to us well the Jain sub-religion, but also the customs with forceful anecdotes. Good explanations also about the legends represented on the bas-reliefs. Very beautiful silver chests in the temples, and the altars are beautiful every time All in the background, a huge fresco with multiple panels explains the 23 reincarnations of the supreme being among the Jains. Instructive for us Westerners.

  • On the road from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur there is the small town of Osian, where few stop, which houses the temple dedicated to Mahavira, the last of the 24 Jain masters. You are fascinated by the sophistication of the sculpted temples to the top of the spires. Given the virtually zero influx of tourists you can fully enjoy the visit. Entry is free.

  • It is a very old temple, say around more than 1000 years old. Its not as crowded as other temples so any time you visit the temple, you'll find it unusually less crowded and peaceful. Additionally it is maintained very nicely by the temple management and it is very clean. The cravings on the wall are very unique and detailed. Note: photography inside the temple premise is prohibited.
  • What a beautiful place, really this trip made my day . Such a beautiful temple & sand dunes. You will really enjoy going to sand dunes . There is desert Safari on camels and 4*4 classic Jeep. While visiting the temple must see the carvings and sculptures on the walls and pillars. So you must go & enjoy there.
