Raj Ghat, New Delhi
See a moving memorial to the father of the nation at Raj Ghat. Situated at the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, the memorial consists of a stone footpath that leads visitors through well-maintained lawns to a walled enclosure. In the enclosure sits a black marble platform, exposed to the elements and with an eternal flame burning at one end. Take off your footwear before entering the enclosure to pay your respects to the leader of the Indian independence movement. Put Raj Ghat and other New Delhi attractions into our New Delhi sightseeing planning tool , and watch your holiday take shape.

A place of walk for many Indians, it is also a place of remembrance because it is here that Gandhi was cremated. It is perfectly maintained.
Although the grounds are very pleasant, being the cremation site of the assassinated Mahatma to admirers and history buffs this is more of a pilgrimage. I for one am truely glad we visited. more »
It is a beautiful place. There are very good quotes by Mahatma Gandhi written along the sides. Its more suited to visit this place with family or if you are serious about the importance of this place. One good thing from this is that we did not have to walk around on the soil and turf without our shoes on. The site is very large and very respectful to a great man. The eternal flame pays due homage.
Memorial of Mahatma Gandhi - Father of our nation. People consider it as a Holy place. So people show great respect and pray. The garden is great. It is decorated with variety of flowers and plants. Usually very crowded. I think mornings and evenings are best time to visit here.
