Rakht-Talai (Haldighati), Nathdwara

#2 of 15 in Things to do in Rajsamand District
See the site of one of the most famous battles in Indian history at Rakht-Talai (Haldighati), a memorial commemorating the conflict between the Maharana of Mewar’s armies and the Mughals in 1597. Set on a plain next to the Banas River, twin pavilions with cenotaphs and a memorial marble slab erected within a garden mark the location of the epic bloodbath. Nearby, you can find a private museum with life-size sculptures of warriors, and a public monument to the Hindu leader of the battle. Traditional dances and horseback riding games are occasionally performed nearby.
