Kayarohanaswami Temple, Nagapattinam is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Siva situated in the town of Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu, India. The presiding deity is known as Kayarohana and his consort is Nilayathakshi. The temple has been in existence from the 6th century AD and has been praised by the Nayanmars Appar, Sambandar and Sundarar. The temple has been constructed by the Lakolisa cult which originated in Gujarat and their only other temple in Tamil Nadu is at Kanchipuram. The idol of Thyagaraja in the temple is made of lapis lazuli.EtymologyKarona is a corruption of Kaya-rohana and the temple is the twin of Kayarohana temple in Gujarat. Karonam might also have been derived from other origin such as "Kar Onam" and Lord Vishnu has been referred as "Onathan". The temple has been rebuilt by the Pallavas and Cholas.

  • God shiva was overwhelmed by fisherman act of devotion and confidence he was much pleased and blessed him. Still on same day there is function is going on without understanding logic of love of God he wants in conditional love with love of humanity we can make him once again to remember visit this place. Simple way of life without any advertisement that fisherman was praying him without any expectations. All this story is painted on the top of front mandapam. That fisherman statue is left side of the enterance all should stay in front of him to understand how he got the greatness of the God. One more siddar samadi is there all should go to this temple donate coconut trees for the benefit of temples.
