Gateway of India, Mumbai

4.2
Watching over the Arabian Sea, Gateway of India stands as perhaps the city's most recognizable symbol. The imposing gate, which reaches a height of 26 m (85 ft), reminds visitors of the grand architectural legacy the British colonial empire left behind. Note that the basalt gate fuses several different architectural styles, including Roman triumphal features and local Hindu and Muslim aspects. You can wander through the gate to view the domed ceiling and see the inscription above the arch, dedicated to the visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. • Iconic part of Mumbai. Nice place for a stroll. Be aware that it gets very packed. There’s security and you’ll likely have your bags checked to go in. Once in, there’s not a lot to do. Just see the arch and walk around. There are a lot of local peddlers/photographers but they aren’t too aggressive. Fancy shops and cafes are in the area. It’s a ritzy are near the big reddish hotel right across from the arch.
  • Beautiful place to visit. Tourist attraction and seaside architecture makes the location very much attractive. Good for families, couples, singles and mostly everyone to visit. The police checking is done to enter the premises of gateway of India. The ships are the there with low cost fare and they will take to the mid of sea and will take to Arabic sea. You will see the navy army out there and can see the beauty of sea, waves and it's adventurous too.
  • Its a good sight seeing place. You can also enjoy the boat rides. And there tons of excellent restaurants nearby. So all n all if in Mumbai then this place is a must. But make sure to visit on weekdays to avoid over crowd. Best time to visit is after 5 or 6 pm.
  • Great place to visit ,best monument in India. Lots and lots pics you can take . Better to go with 700D. If you are going family don't forget boating Rs 90 for adults and Rs 60 for kids. Carry some kurkure packets when boating to feed birds . All through boating birds will be on boat expecting for food. Don't worry they don't harm. Kids would really enjoy when birds are on boat. My daughter enjoyed a lot ride in boat.
  • One of the most historical monument of India. It is having very strong significance. The view is awesome. It is in front of hotel taj. Boats can be booked over there for rides ranging from RS 200 (shared) and private speed boats of two floor starting from 5000. You can also feed pigeons there taking gram for RS 10 as it provides great mental peace.
