Trip Planner: Asia / India / Karnataka / Dakshina Kannada District / Mangalore / St. Aloysius Chapel
Witness a fine example of European-style architecture and celebrated artworks at St. Aloysius Chapel. Built in 1878, the church forms part of a college, located at the heart of Mangalore. Its famed interior features richly colored fresco and canvas paintings of the lives of Aloysius Gonzaga, as well as the lives of Jesus Christ and his apostles. Step inside to see Italian painter Antonio Moscheni's works depicting Aloysius as a child, his first holy communion, and him seeking commission to the Jesuit Order; those of Jesus depict his birth, his baptism by St. John, and his crucifixion. Good historic place. But don't trust Google maps here, it will take you to different place where you can't enter. Check for the nearest place and put directions for that, so that you can reach the place or else it will take you to backside of the campus. If you make route for "Brio Cafe' and Grill" it will take you to proper route, from this place the church entrance way is 50 metres.
Excellent art style. The paintings inside chapel are incredibly beautiful and well maintained. P.S-Unable to upload pictures of the paintings as photography is prohibited inside chapel.
