Trip Planner: Asia / India / West Bengal / Kolkata District / Kolkata (Calcutta) / St. Paul's Cathedral
Visit St. Paul's Cathedral, recognized as one of the first Episcopal churches built in Asia and the first cathedral built on overseas territory by the British Empire. Marvel at this sprawling cathedral, built in an Indo-gothic revival style. Completed in 1847, the cathedral is said to resemble Norwich cathedral in England. Wander around inside and admire the stained glass windows, and the two frescoes in Florentine renaissance style. Take a seat in the nave, which is fitted with finely carved wooden pews and chairs, and enjoy the tranquil environment. The cathedral, in particular the steeple, was badly damaged in the devastating earthquakes of 1897 and 1934, and has since been rebuilt using a revised design. Take a break in the small library above the western porch, or amble through the vast, peaceful grounds while gazing up at the ancient trees. This is a very good place to visit. You can pray here in front of Jesus Christ. This is a catholic Church and is still there ruling from the past. The church was established in the British period running in India. The view is very good and you can always enjoy a trip here. Must roam around the church for getting a marvellous view and good mood.
One of the best place to visit in Kolkata absolute silence. Its beautiful and people over their claiming attaching themselves with the soul of God make the place more beautiful. Make sure you have a plenty of time before going their. Once you enter their one will not know how time is flying off.
