Mathoor Aqueduct or Mathoor Hanging Trough, is an aqueduct in southern India, in the kalkulam taluk of Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu state. Built over the Pahrali River (also called Parazhiyar), it takes its name from Mathoor, a hamlet near the aqueduct, which is about 3 kilometres from Thiruvattar town and about 60 km from Kanyakumari, the southernmost town of India. It is one of the longest and highest aqueducts in South Asia and is a popular tourist spot in Kanyakumari District. The nearest railway station is Kuzhithurai Railway Station which is about 15 kilometres away and the nearest airport is the Trivandrum International Airport which is about 70 kilometres away.

  • Nice views of the surrounding countryside. The place itself is not well kept. No dedicated parking. Lot of local tourists. Littered. Generally has an unkempt appearance.  more »

  • A great view of the nature with the coconut trees around the water can be seen from the duct as if we were in the air. You can walk over the duct and feel the thrill of being floating in the air. Steps are available on both sides so that you can climb and reach it from either side.Pineapple is very cheap here and tender coconuts are also available for drinking.Better go either early in the morning or evening so that you can enjoy fully and take some photos of you also including the nature.
  • Good place to see, One of the tallest bridge of asia, kudos to the former chief minister of TN for his vision and commitment. Scenic, semi clean, best time to visit 6 am to 8 am. If interested, can have bath in the stream flowing below the bridge. You will get fruits cultivated locally like pineapple, banana, Jack fruit etc.
