Built by the first Portuguese governor of India in 1505, Fort St. Angelos faces the Arabian Sea, offering a sweeping view of Mopila Bay and Dharmadam Island. Check the muzzle-loading cannons and walk through long fat-walled barracks or gunpowder houses. Soak in the tumultuous colonial history of the site, shared between the Portuguese, Dutch, British, and Kerala natives. A fine piece of military engineering, a wall projecting from the fort separates the rough sea and inland water. Overlooking a scenic fishing village, the fort is easily accessible by car and has parking. To visit Fort St. Angelos on your trip to Kannur, use our Kannur trip itinerary planning website .
Fort St. Angelos Reviews
It's a huge complex so wear comfortable footwear. Amazing view of the sea & the jetty. There's not much to do inside the complex except admire the scenic beauty. Great spot for photo shoot. more »

A very good place 😊. There is no entry fee for this place. The entry time is till 8. It's a very beautiful place. It's a good place to come with friends, families, children and anyone. Really a good place to chill. But there is only a shop where we can buy water,ice-cream and all. The place is really refreshing because there is a beach next to it and the wind is too strong. We can go there even if it is too sunny, because there is too much shades.
Loved it ..it's a beautiful place to spend time with family . There are old buildings inside fort where we can enjoy the old pride construction. The better time to visit is in the evening. Sunset is awesome. There is a sea side at one end which is beautiful with black wet stones and greenish algae. Be careful while going down here as any time water can come up in force . We can spend lot of time here happily. It's well maintained and entrance fee is free . Try to come by walk . For parking and vehicle entrance three is fee. There is a boat yard and a view point near by .which we need to take left before entering this fort. Better plan is to come here first and spend time here till 6pm. 6pm this will be closed . Go out and take the road to sea view point .on the way if interested you can visit the boat yard too.
