Head to Maharaja's Palace to see part of one of the world's largest foritifications and a World Heritage Site. Built in 1156 CE, it stands tall in the center of city, rising out of the sands of the Thar Desert. The palace's yellow sandstone facade turns from tawny to golden as the sun sets. Measuring 460 m (1,500 ft) long, 230 m (750 ft) wide, and 76 m (250 ft) high, it also features a daunting defensive wall.
