#1 of 6 in Parks in Jaisalmer District
At Gadsisar Sagar Lake, see the wildlife reserve popular among bird-watchers, as well as the cultural landmarks which surround its shores. Artificially made in 1400 CE, the lake served as a conservation tank which supplied the arid city with water. Today it serves as an oasis that harbors many species of migratory birds, so bring a good pair of binoculars to have a closer look. As you explore the lake's coastline, visit the nearby temples and shrines that became a pilgrimage spot for many Hindu devotees. Make sure to bring an umbrella, or a raincoat to stay dry during the monsoon season. Put Gadsisar Sagar Lake at the forefront of your travel plans using our Jaisalmer trip builder site .

  • Its good but not so neat and clean. Avoid the local shop outside the lake. There are too many boats who will charge a lot for sightseeing in the lake. But i think its not that necessary. Nothing is th...  more »
  • It is not a natural lake but constructed by Maharawal Gadsi Singh in the year 1367. Fishes are there in the lake. On one side, there is small Shiva temple. Good place to go in the morning or in the ev...  more »

  • It was a pleasant surprise to discover a vast and lovely lake in the desert. It is an example of the kindness of the reigning monarch. The reservoir gets filled just when there is sufficient rain. The boat ride here was delightfully refreshing.  The scene of setting sun reflecting on the waves created by gentle breeze was captivating. While on the move the boatman told several entertaining anecdotes. There are lots of attractions on the banks too. An observation deck on the shores offers a panoramic view of the vast expanse. The way to the lake also holds many souvenir shops.  At this place, one should not miss an opportunity to get dressed in an ethnic apparel & net a photograph as a memento of that.
  • Take a boat ride and experience the serenity of having a lake in a desert. One can enjoy a calm and smoothing boat ride on this lake. Gadsisar Lake is home to multiple variants of catfishes as well. ● The best time to visit the Gadisar Lake is between the months of October to March. The weather remains pleasant which is perfect for sightseeing around the place. Also during these months one can find some amazing birds here that everyone cannot help but fall in love with. ● Make sure to walk around to lake to get amazing views from all sides and get best clicked pictures. ● Come here with ample time as due to the limited number of boats the queue can be pretty long. Now I'm going to share some pictures with you that I clicked here.......
