Discover a key structure within the World Heritage-listed complex of Hampi monuments at Hazara Rama Temple, featuring walls carved with thousands of images depicting scenes from the "Ramayana." Constructed in the 15th century, the relatively small structure served as private shrine for King Vijayanagara and his closest relatives. Renovations carried out after the original construction added an open porch and elaborate pillars to the simple building, which has just two halls and a sanctum. Note the well-preserved external walls with bas-reliefs of Krishna and Rama, as well as images of public processions and festivals involving soldiers, dancers, and trained elephants and horses.
