Ganpatipule Temple, Ganpatipule

The idol at Ganpatipule Temple representing the deity Ganpatipule stands out for an interesting reason; where deities in other Indian temples face east, this deity faces west in order to guard the western gates. The attraction sits at the base of a hill, which pilgrims walk around as a sign of respect. A popular beach also flanks the temple, where tourists and locals crowd to enjoy the sun, making it a convenient stop on a larger day trip. If you want to avoid the massive crowds, arrive early in the morning, tour the temple, then choose your favorite spot on the beach without competition.
