It is a very old Catholic Church, maybe 400 years old, located in the Moti Daman area. It's architectural style, according to the legend available there, is Roman coupled with the exquisite talent of its Portugese artisans. It is very close to the Moti Daman Fort. The interiors are exquisitely crafted. The pulpit, has been so beautifully done, that even the minutest detail can be seen. The altars are made of wood and have been intricately carved too, and the place has been so magnificently maintained, so much so that it still looks brand new... There are not many visitors in weekdays except on festival occasions, so one can sit peacefully inside and savour the pristine ambience and lose oneself in meditation...
Located in Moti Daman, Church of Bom Jesus, as its name suggests, is dedicated to Bom Jesus. Its construction was started in 1559, and its consecration took place in 1603. It used to be a parish church during the early days of Portuguese settlement. The building is a living example of the superb architectural skills and exquisite craftsmanship of the Portuguese artisans and designers of those times. Its decorative and intricate design testifies to the matchless quality of Portuguese and Roman style of architecture. Some of the prominent features of the church include its gold painted wooden altar, artistically carved doorways, intricately designed rococo interiors, superbly bejewelled lofty ceilings and extravagantly styled work in rosewood.
