Vadapalani Murugan Temple, Chennai

4.6
Visit Vadapalani Murugan Temple, an immensely popular Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Muraga, god of war. Originally constructed around 1890 as a humble shed, the temple underwent renovations in the 1920s, expanding into a complex complete with an intricately decorated 40.8 m (131 ft) tower that depicts various Hindu legends. Inside you'll see a picturesque courtyard featuring a number of statues of other deities surrounding a large central pond with a shrine on the water. Devotees will find plenty to admire, along with a meditation hall to calm the mind. Amenities nearby have you covered, including for food and drink. • This temple is famous for Lord Murugan. Timings: 5:00 AM - 12:00 PM & 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM Entry Fee: No entry fee. It is also believed that worshipping Lord Murugan here is as pious as praying to him at the original Palani temple. If someone is unable to visit the original abode, they can pay their respects here, and Murugan will bless them all the same. Vadapalani Murugan Temple has a rich history and an ornate architecture and is also enriched with people's faiths from all-over the country.
  • * Usually crowded. * A famous place that everyone must visit. * Almost everyone in Chennai says once you leave your problems to Murugan, he'll take care of everything. * Dharshan takes around 1 to 1.5 hours * Visit early morning, it you wanna head back at least for lunch. * Also, in a lighter note, Murugan will be a lot happier if you donate to the poor, rather than the rich who own Temples. Let that sink in. 😁 God bless you.
